Kiyote Tales: The Mark of Jin – When Heroes Are Away, Misfits Save the Day

In a world where animals walk and talk, the fate of a city rests in the unlikeliest of paws.

With Kiyoté, the self-proclaimed “bravest coyote ever,” off on a quest to restore the elf Queen’s memories, the city of Smud faces a dire threat. An army of bugbears marches on their gates, and hope seems lost.

Enter the most improbable duo: Jin the Cat, a part-time bounty hunter with shady connections, and Puffer the wizard, a fish out of water with a flair for dance magic. Under the dubious leadership of Lord Pamplamoose Pithwhithle, they must rally Smud’s eclectic inhabitants to fend off the impending invasion.

“The Mark of Jin” offers a whimsical exploration of: • Unlikely heroes rising to the occasion • The power of community in the face of adversity • Magic that’s more disco than fireball

Perfect for fans of Terry Pratchett’s “Discworld” and Douglas Adams’ “Hitchhiker’s Guide,” this fantastical adventure asks: • Can a cat and a fish save a city? • What happens when the underdog becomes the top dog? • Is dancermancy the deadliest of all magics?

As the bugbear horde approaches, Jin and Puffer must dig deep, finding courage they never knew they had. Will their ragtag band of misfits be enough to save Smud from the evil of Nyar and his minions?

Dive into Benjamin Upton’s quirky world where the fate of a city hangs on a cat’s whisker and a fish’s fin. Will you answer Smud’s call?

Get your paws on “The Mark of Jin” today and experience a tale that’s more fun than a ball of yarn in a catnip factory!

About the Author

Kiyote Tales is my first foray into writing an actual book. The stories began when my son was just a hatchling. I had a coyote puppet that I would use to tell him stories at night. Every other night for the next 12 years the puppet, who’s name became the Kiyote, would tell him stories. Over time the stories took a life of their own and before I knew it we had come up with an entire world that was ready for exploration. Eventually he asked me give him one of the stories as a book. I printed one up, stapled it and he loaned it to his friends. One of those friends, while holding a stack of library books, told me my story was the best one. I decided then to give publishing a try.
