They say that legends are born, not made.

But for Jeremy Goodson and Masaru Hagen that is far from the truth. Confronted by something thatneither of them can explain, two complete strangers from opposite sides of the world embark on anunforgettable journey that will forge them into living legends.

It has been almost 4,000 years since magic disappeared from the Earth. Hidden from humanity by the veil, those who possess magic live in ancient settlements across the globe. Over the centuries, these beings have pierced the Veil, leaving behind glimpses and shadows of the fantastic and arcane.

Fueled by distant memories and humanity’s desire for wonder, familiar stories of myths and legends have been passed down for thousands of years in nearly every culture and nation.

Jeremy Goodson, an average, overweight teacher in New York City finds his entire world turnedupside down when a stranger tempts him to leave everything behind and start a journey that will testJeremy’s mysterious gift and bring magic and hope back to humanity.

Masaru Hagen, the adopted son of American tech entrepreneurs living in Tokyo, has been guided by an unseen voice all his life. On the eve of his twentieth birthday, the voice leads him across thousands of miles on a mysterious and perilous mission he alone can undertake.

But there are principalities of this world that will do whatever they can to stop Jeremy and Masaru and keep magic out of the hands of humanity forever.

One of these men will bring hope to the world; the other will bring death. The world they once knew will be changed forever, not only for themselves but for everyone on Earth…and maybe not for the best.

Piercing the Veil by Steven A. Guglich

Hold onto your wands, folks! “Piercing the Veil” by Steven A. Guglich is about to rip open the fabric of reality and unleash a torrent of magic into our mundane world.

Guglich serves up a tantalizing blend of urban fantasy and global mythology that promises to turn everything we think we know about legends on its head. The concept of magic being hidden for millennia, only to resurface in the modern world, is a brilliant twist on the classic “chosen one” narrative.

What really sets this story apart is its dual protagonists. Jeremy, the overweight teacher from New York, and Masaru, the adopted son of tech entrepreneurs in Tokyo, couldn’t be more different. Yet their parallel journeys promise a fascinating exploration of how magic might manifest in diverse cultures and personalities. It’s refreshing to see a fantasy hero who isn’t the typical athletic young adult – Jeremy’s everyman quality makes the extraordinary events even more compelling.

The global scale of the story is intriguing. By spanning continents and cultures, Guglich seems poised to create a rich tapestry of magical traditions that draws from a wide range of mythologies. This approach could offer a fresh take on familiar legends, reimagining them through the lens of this hidden magical world.

The tension between those who want to bring magic back and those determined to keep it hidden adds a layer of conflict that goes beyond the typical good vs. evil narrative. It raises intriguing questions about the nature of power and the potential consequences of reintroducing magic to a world that has forgotten it.

“Piercing the Veil” sounds like it could be a standout in the crowded urban fantasy genre. If you’re hungry for a magical adventure that spans the globe, challenges preconceptions about heroism, and promises to reshape the world as we know it, this indie gem might just be the spell you’ve been waiting for.

🔮 Magic returns with a vengeance in this globe-trotting fantasy epic! Two unlikely heroes, one world-changing quest. The veil is about to be shattered – are you ready? 🌍 #UrbanFantasy #MagicalRealism #GlobalMythology

About the Author

Steven A. Guglich: Educator, Dreamer, Author

From an early age, Steven A. Guglich found solace in the realms of imagination. As a child who felt the world was like an uncomfortable, itchy sweater, Steven discovered escape through storytelling and role-playing. His father, Stanley, nurtured this vivid imagination with fantastic tales and elaborate games, laying the foundation for Steven’s future as a storyteller.

The Journey Begins

At eight years old, Steven was introduced to Dungeons & Dragons, opening up new avenues for adventure. His high school years marked a turning point when he joined the school newspaper, The Cherry Tree. What began as a hesitant foray into journalism quickly blossomed into a leadership role, with Steven serving as Editor-in-Chief for three years. He credits his faculty advisor, Mrs. Joann Hauptman, for recognizing and cultivating his writing talent.

It was during this time that Steven also discovered the joy of reading, with Piers Anthony’s Xanth series serving as a gateway to literary worlds beyond his own imagination.

A Winding Path

Steven’s journey to becoming an author was not a straight line. He pursued degrees in Film & Television Production, Elementary Education, and eventually earned a master’s in Educational Leadership. Along the way, he explored various creative outlets, co-authoring short stories, plays, and scripts with his friend Alex Marquez.

Love and Encouragement

The most significant turning point in Steven’s writing career came when he met Karen, the love of his life. During their courtship, Steven began writing daily “Words of Encouragement” (W.O.E.s) for Karen. These emails, filled with scripture and inspiration, became a cherished part of their relationship.

On their wedding day in 2008, Karen surprised Steven with a bound collection of his W.O.E.s, encouraging him to pursue his dream of becoming a writer. This gesture rekindled Steven’s passion for storytelling and set him on the path to authorship.

Family, Career, and Writing

Today, Steven balances his roles as a husband, father of four, and accomplished educator with his passion for writing. After relocating from New Jersey to North Dakota, he has been diligently working on his first series, The Veil Saga.

In 2020, Steven’s contributions to education were recognized when he was named Principal of the Year for North Dakota and inducted into the prestigious alum of the Nationally Distinguished Principals.

Through it all, Karen remains his steadfast supporter, encouraging him to write every day and keep pursuing his dreams of world-building and storytelling.
